Sharp is one of those firms that, despite not launching too many phones every year, manages to attract looks with each presentation. It was one of the pioneers in the field of smartphones with the screen without frames, launching the Aquos Crystal in 2014, and over time has been perfecting the technique until arriving at the current Aquos S2, a spectacular high range that shows a few specifications at the height of the market.

Today, the Japanese company has introduced a new phone belonging to its saga Aquos, which comes to delight those who are looking for an ultra-compact phone, without neglecting the specifications or innovation. This is the new Sharp Aquos R Compact.

Sharp Aquos R Compact, a midrange without frames with 120Hz screen

The main differential aspect of this Aquos R Compact, which has been presented today in Japan, lies in its design. It has a body made of aluminum, which displays a screen surrounded by minimal margins on the sides and at the top, where we come across a gap that houses the 8-megapixel front camera. The lower edge has a somewhat more conventional size and is presided over by the fingerprint reader.

Thanks to the small size of its frames, added to a panel of only 4.99 inches, make this Aquos R Compact a very compact phone perfect for those who pass the phablets. The screen deserves special mention, as it has IGZO technology, own by the company, and a Full HD resolution of 2032 x 1080 pixels.

But that’s not all about its screen. Sharp presumes to be the first brand to launch to the market an Android smartphone with the screen whose refresh rate grows up to 120Hz, which results in greater fluidity and less latency when making use of the panel.

The interior of the Aquos R Compact consists of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, with four four Kryo 260 cores which are clocked at 2.2GHz, an Adreno 512 GPU and 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of expandable storage. Android 8.0 Oreo is the operating system that gives life to the last range of Sharp, something that very few terminals of this range can presume. The capacity of its battery is 2,500 mAh, and it has support for fast charge 3.0 of Qualcomm.

Unlike its older brother, the photographic section of the Aquos R Compact consists of a single rear camera. In this case, 16.4 megapixels supported by autofocus by phase detection and autofocus by contrast. An LED flash accompanies the sensor to illuminate the night captures.
