Recently, the giant US-based chipmaker, Qualcomm Technologies has announced its first 5G cellular modem (fifth-generation), Qualcomm 315, and it’s a 5G IoT Modem.
This newly launched Qualcomm 315 5G IoT Modem is designed specifically for use in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) segment. The company Qualcomm has claimed that this new 315 5G IoT modem will simply make it efficient, easy, and cheap to go wireless for the factories.

The product is a complex modem-antenna solution that is characterized by gigabit performance, low power consumption, and thermal efficiency.
Not only that even this new Qualcomm 315 5G IoT modem supports global 5G NR frequency bands (it’s a band below 6 GHz) SA with the ability to switch automatically to the LTE if it’s necessary or required.
Qualcomm said that “This solution will facilitate the creation of devices with extended lifespan and will help expand the use of 5G in the Internet of Things.
Also added that “The new Qualcomm 315 5G IoT modem will also make it easier for the customers to seamlessly integrate their devices that use communication technologies of previous generations.”
In short, this new innovation comes with compatibility at the level of contacts with existing LTE modules. And allows all the existing solutions to be upgraded without changing any hardware components or any rework.
So, as a result, it simply minimizes both the key things, the time and cost while assuring a smooth transformation from 4G to 5G.
