Long ago I was anxious to do a review on a router for the home. The reason for this is that many of us usually already have a wireless router that our internet provider supplies to us as part of the service; in some cases, this is a robust equipment and very suitable for what we need in our homes. But in other cases, the equipment we have been given has a medium range and we are not very happy with our wireless home network.
Today we are going to talk about the Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router 3A, a router designed for home use, which is surely the ideal complement to the home network of most. With the benefits of being very economical and having a rather striking design, this equipment looks good almost anywhere it is located.
Some of you may be wondering how Xiaomi is making routers?
Well, the answer is that this Chinese company, unlike what many know, is not only dedicated to the cell phone market but produces a huge variety of electronic devices of all kinds. The routers, of course, are one of their many successful lines, which are already beginning to reach the West with great force. Let’s see what it have to offer the Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router 3A.
This unit is the older brother of the Xiaomi Mi WiFi Mini Router and has enough positives to its credit, that would draw attention to more than one. However, being a mid-range device with a price that is only $30 dollars, you must also consider some of its shortcomings when it comes to acquiring it.
● The latest 802.11ac WiFi Standard: Get 3x faster access and more reliable streaming for your home computers and mobile devices.
● Simultaneous dual-band networks, 2.4GHz ( 300Mbps ) and 5GHz ( 867Mbps ).
● Four external antennas for faster wireless performance at greater distances.
● Manage your network settings easily with the Xiaomi MiWiFi APP.
● MT7628A processor
● The Mi WiFi Router 3A ( without USB 2.0 interface ) is 16MB NorFlash and 64MB DDR2 ( while the Mi WiFi Router 3 is 128MB SLC Nand Flash and 128MB DDR2 ). And it is cheaper than Mi WiFi Router 3.
One of the main advantages of this router is that it has two simultaneous bands with Wi-Fi AC. The first is the traditional 2.4GHz which guarantees compatibility with most current and old devices. In this band, we will have a maximum transfer rate of 300Mbps and a greater range of signal range. The second band of 5GHz is focused to give connectivity to the most modern devices, with which we can work at transfer rates of up to 867Mbps sacrificing that yes the range of the signal.
Thanks to its four physical antennas, two internal antennas with a gain of 5dBi and two external ones with a gain of 6dBi, this small router guarantee maximum possible coverage in the home, giving the battle with most of the medium-range routers and values that double or triple the price.
