Mozilla Secretly Installed A Extension in Firefox To Promote ‘Mr. Robot’: Mozilla the company which is struggling to settle down in the browser marketplace had just launched an extraordinary browser known as Firefox Quantum. The new browser from Mozilla has brought a new perspective.

According to the reports from The Verge, Firefox users have started to see a strange extension which is known as “Looking Glass”. However, the extension was disabled by default on the browser, but Firefox users were still alarmed to see the plugin.

Upon a closer look, Firefox users have found that the description of Looking Glass extension reads “MY REALITY IS JUST DIFFERENT THAN YOURS”. One of the users wrote in the support forum of Mozilla “I did not remember installing this add-on I would not knowingly install it”

At first glance, the extension was tagged as a virus, however, Mozilla on the forum explained that “Looking Glass” extension is made to promote the “Mr. Robot” series, whose 3rd season ended recently.

The Plug-in was developed as part of the series’ alternate reality game, this was just a promotional act which was done to promote the “Mr.Robot” through a real-world puzzle game. According to the documentation shared by Mozilla, the plug-in was designed as a “shared experience to further your immersion into the Mr. Robot universe,”

The plug-in was developed as a collaboration between Mozilla and Mr. Robot team in the USA. Mozilla has also made available the “Looking Glass” plug-in in the official Firefox extension store.
