Due to its popularity and user base, Android is prone to hacking. Hackers are inventing different methods to hack into the operating system.
Recently, Kaspersky has discovered a new form of Malware which can cause physical damage to the smartphone. Yes, you read that right. The new malware for Android, Loapi, is capable of doing different tasks at the same time.
According to the security firm, Loapi virus disguises itself as a pornographic app or anti-virus to enter the victim’s device. When installed, the virus can do several nefarious activities like mining crypto-currencies, redirecting web traffic and possibly initiate a DDoS attack.
According to the security firm Kaspersky, Loapi is indeed an interesting malware and it can sign up for paid services, send SMS, generate traffic and can make money by showing ads. Basically, the malware can do everything once it enters your Android device.
Another worst thing is, the malware can do almost everything simultaneously, which requires too much from the Smartphone’s processor and battery. According to the researchers, the malware can make the battery swell and even deform the back of the smartphone.
If you didn’t find it harmful enough, there is another thing that might leave you in shock, the malware plays with device permissions and can lock the screen if the victim tries to change the device permission.
The good thing is, Loapi has not been found in Google Play Store, only in third-party stores. So, the best thing is to avoid third-party installation, and always check the permissions before granting.
