Beware! Built-In Keylogger Found In Over 460 HP Laptop Models: Are you using HP Laptops? If yes, then we have a really bad news for you! Recently, Researcher Michael Myng has managed to find a working keylogger on HP Laptops. Well, if you are unaware of Keyloggers, this is a type of tool that records what user types. This type of tools is mostly used by hackers for unethical purposes.
Michael Myng had found a working keylogger hidden in the touchpad driver. However, the touchpad driver in HP Laptops was disabled by default. The company had looked into the problem and already released a security update on more than 460 HP laptop models.
This is not something limited to HP laptops, the researcher believes that other laptop manufacturers might have the same keylogger hidden inside the touchpad driver. According to the reports from BBC, the keylogger is present in Synaptics’ drivers which helps them to fix bugs. However, the same feature shouldn’t be distributed to users in general.
In one of a statement, HP Said: “HP uses Synaptics’ touchpads in some of its mobile PCs and has worked with Synaptics to provide fixes to their error for impacted HP systems, available via the security bulletin on HP.com.”
HP also said that other manufacturers are also likely to release security updates to remove the inbuilt keylogger. For now, the keylogger has been found in Elitebook, ProBook, Pavilion, and Envy.
