Google CEO Sundar Pichai Says AI is More Important Than Electricity and Fire: Let me ask you an important question first, what are the greatest inventions of the human being for you? The fire, electricity? Well, Sundar Pichai which is right now CEO of Google believes that Artificial Intelligence will have as much of an impact on mankind as electricity.
Google’s AI Creates Its Own AI That Is Superior Than The Ones Made By Humans
Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, believes that artificial intelligence may be the greatest inventions in our history – the last thing mankind must invent by itself. Somehow, Artificial Intelligence is already present in our routine, it doesn’t matter if your smartphone is Android or iOS, at some point, we talk to SIRI or Google Assistant.
Speaking as part of a new show hosted by MSNBC’s Ari Melber and Recode’s Kara Swisher, Pichai said that AI is “one of the most important things that humanity is working on. It’s more profound that, I don’t know, electricity or fire’.
Swisher said “Fire’s pretty good”
Sundar Pichai in return drew equal to fire and electricity, he believes that Artificial Intelligence is basically both dangerous and useful at the same time just like fire and electricity.
Sundar Pichai said “But it kills people, too. They learn to harness fire for the benefits of humanity, but we have to overcome its downsides, too,”
We all know that there are some concerns regarding AI taking over the world one day. On which Sundar Pichai said that he feels that Artificial Intelligence will play a key role in the advancement of humanity, such as curing cancer and providing climate change solutions.
Sundar Pichai said “My point is AI is really important, but we have to be concerned about it, It’s fair to be worried about it—I wouldn’t say we’re just being optimistic about it— we want to be thoughtful about it. AI holds the potential for some of the biggest advances we’re going to see”
“Whenever I see the news of a young person dying of cancer, you realize AI is going to play a role in solving that in the future. So I think we owe it to make progress too.”
Not surprisingly, Google is investing in technology, offering products with artificial intelligence. By 2016, Pichai was already very much in favor of technology. Pichai did acknowledge the need for “balance” to be struck between AI technology’s downsides and upsides.
