Recently, Intel launched a public bug bounty program with individual rewards going as far as $250,000 depending on the severity of the security breach and the difficulty in mitigating it.

It’s worth to note that bug bounty program already existed at Intel, however, it was restricted to guests. So, the latest announcement opens the gates for everyone to find vulnerabilities in eligible products like processors, chipsets, motherboards, SSD, drivers etc.

Vulnerabilities that allow side channel attacks like Specter have longer rewards for a limited time, ranging from $5,000 to $250,000. The program runs through December 31, 2018.

It’s worth to note that Intel has been running sort of time to develop patches for Meltdown and Specter, which affect nearly every processor that was made in the last 20 years.
